KATHMANDU — The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index fell 26.29 points, or 0.99 percent, to close at 2,627.11 on Monday, the first trading day of the week, with every sectoral index in the red.

An economic brief published this week noted that the government maintains its economic revival measures are already showing positive results within their first 100 days, citing improved revenue collection, rising private-sector confidence and growing investor interest.

Officials say investor and donor confidence has strengthened following the repeal of outdated laws and improvements in tax administration. The government has set a target of growing the economy to USD 100 billion within five to seven years.

Separately, the price of fine gold also eased on Monday, falling to Rs 313,200 per tola, according to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers' Association. The National Statistics Office reported that domestic tourism contributed 2.65 percent to GDP in fiscal year 2024/25.
