KATHMANDU/BEIJING — Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal paid an official visit to China from June 14 to 17, at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, holding bilateral talks with him in Beijing.
The talks covered infrastructure, connectivity, border management, energy, trade, investment, agriculture, technology transfer, information technology and people-to-people ties. Minister Khanal also met other senior Chinese officials during the visit.
He took part in an investment conference organized by the Embassy of Nepal in Beijing and held an interaction with the Chinese business community, aimed at attracting foreign investment into Nepal.
Both sides pledged to strengthen bilateral relations and mutual sovereignty, though the visit concluded without any new memorandums of understanding or trade agreements being signed. Talks reportedly focused mainly on accelerating existing projects.
